Mumbai: The Maharashtra government on Monday said that the five men arrested for the gangrape of a 22-year-old woman photojournalist in the heart of Mumbai will be tried by a fast-track court.
The police said that a mobile phone used to take two pictures of the woman after she was raped is missing. The men allegedly warned her that if she reported the crime to the authorities, they would release her photos on social networking websites.
The victim is currently in Jaslok Hospital and is recovering, police said. A statement released by her family of the victim on Sunday said it is grateful for the outpouring of support and called for “the severest of punishment.”
